Whitestown, Ind – Two companies, Weaver Popcorn Manufacturing and iwis drive systems LLC, announced their plans for investment in Whitestown.

“These two companies bring a combined investment of more than $40 million to Whitestown,” said Whitestown Town Council President Clinton Bohm. “Companies continue to look to our community as the best place to start and grow their business.”

Weaver Popcorn plans to invest $25 million in technology at their Whitestown location to support the company’s accelerating growth in the ready-to-eat plant-based snack industry and double production.

Weaver Popcorn is a global leader in the popcorn industry, producing more than 70% of the total popcorn consumed worldwide. Since 2014, the Boone County location alone has transformed into the world’s largest wet-pop manufacturer, currently employing 538 people.

“Investing in its people, products, and technology has been at the forefront of this 94-year-old companies’ heritage.” said Tim Ingle, Chief Operating Officer of Weaver Popcorn Manufacturing.

iwis drive systems LLC plans to invest $15.1 million into a new 100,000 square foot facility located at 3581 S 450 E in Whitestown. Their current facility in Indianapolis employs 47 people, and the investment is expected to create 20 new jobs with an average wage above $37/hour by 2026.

Based in Indianapolis, iwis drive systems LLC is a division of iwis, an international leader in high-precision chain systems manufacturing and mechanical drive technology.

“Whitestown is an expanding and developing business community, and a perfect location for iwis to prosper and grow in the future. Everyone from Whitestown has made it easy to execute our building program. We look forward to many years of success operating from our Whitestown location,” said Glenn Walters, CEO of iwis.

The iwis drive systems project is set to break ground in summer 2022.

“Today’s announcement is more proof that Boone County is a desirable place to do business,” said Molly Whitehead, Boone EDC Executive Director.  “We’re excited to add more growth into our already robust ag/food sector and in our local, international presence.  We look forward to helping more companies like Weaver Popcorn and Iwis Drive Systems grow in Boone County.”

Both projects are pending final incentive approval.
