This summer, the Boone EDC had the pleasure of hosting Zack Dafoe as our summer intern. Zack’s hard work and dedication to seeing projects through made him an incredible asset to our team, and we’re sad to see him go.

Below you can read more about his experience. Thank you, Zack, for all that you did this summer! We’re excited to see what you go on to do!

Choosing to serve as a summer intern at the Boone EDC was one of the best decisions I could have made. During my time, I conducted research, analyzed data-driven projects, updated our online databases, met with local business owners to conduct SWOT analyses, streamlined the invoice billing system, participated in staff meetings and much more!

The biggest lesson I learned this summer is the importance of working in a team. Daily, I experienced how each of the directors has their own set of strengths and weaknesses and then how they recognize this and work together to complete projects while working seamlessly and effectively.

My favorite part of the internship was interacting with business owners and hearing about their business, as well as what issues they were facing. The EDC helps in whatever way they can by providing tools and knowledge for these business partners and participating in several of these meetings gave me valuable experience.

Next, I will be serving as a finance intern at Salesforce in Indianapolis beginning mid-August. I will hold this position for the Fall semester before I head back to DePauw University for my junior year.

I am very grateful to the team at the Boone EDC for taking me on as an intern and for providing me with invaluable learning opportunities and professional experience.
