Indiana Main Street Logo

Jamestown, IN – Every main street has a key role to play in every town across the United States and around the world.  Often “Main Street” serves as the focal point for business and cultural activities for municipalities and their citizens.  Parades, farmer’s markets, and economic activities frequent these stretches of road or city squares and draw in curious travelers and tourists from other areas.

Jamestown, IN is no exception to that condition.

Local Jamestown merchants and civic leaders have formed a committee to partner with Indiana’s Office of Rural and Community Affairs (OCRA) with the vision of re-branding and refreshing the Jamestown central corridor.  With the recent activity at Fukai Toyotetsu Indiana Corp (FTIC), near the Jamestown exit on highway I-74, Jamestown is in an ideal position to attract new business and attention to this historic Boone County town.

OCRA’s Main Street program provides professional assistance to participating communities wishing to preserve their history while also recognizing areas to improve and grow.  The Main Street program focuses on four key pillars:  Design, Economic Restructuring, Organization and Promotion.  Each of these pillars are important to building a new, vibrant town center.  OCRA assists with the provision of professional advice and workshops, giving guidance and direction to Main Street Associations and committees, such as the one in Jamestown.  The Main Street program also opens avenues for grant funding of special projects, such as “pocket parks” or facade improvements.
