Lebanon, Ind. – The Boone County Economic Development Corporation announced that 14 companies chose to expand or locate in Boone County in 2017. These companies anticipate hiring more than 1,800 people and investing more than $193 million in the community over the next few years. These deals are expected to bring a tax impact of more than $14 million.

“We have seen a healthy mixture of industry types including manufacturing, office, logistics and technology choose Boone County as their home this year,” said Boone EDC Executive Director Molly Whitehead. “We estimate that the average wage of these jobs exceeds the Boone County average.”

In addition to hiring two new full-time staff members this year, the Boone EDC also unveiled a new brand identity including a new logo, color palette and website.

“As the economic development leader in Boone County, it is important that the Boone EDC has a consistent, recognizable look,” said Whitehead. “Our new brand identity better represents our ripple effect in the community and our ability to make meaningful connections.”

The Boone EDC hosted its first job fair this year and has plans to host two more in 2018. In addition, the Boone EDC Microloan Program distributed more than $50,000 to four local small businesses. The microloan program serves as a resource for small businesses in Boone County by providing a convenient start-up option for small business owners seeking funding for specific projects.

“Looking ahead at 2018, we anticipate you will see the Boone EDC taking a greater lead not only with economic development deals, but with workforce development and community development initiatives,” said Whitehead. “We know that quality of place is incredibly important in economic development deals, and we look forward to working with our municipalities on several big quality of life initiatives.”
