Lebanon, Ind. – The Boone County Economic Development Corporation (Boone EDC) will serve as a drop off location for Backpack United – Boone County.

Backpack United, formerly known as Boone County Backpack Attack, is a partnership between the United Way of Central Indiana Area Northwest office and many community partners to collect new school supplies to distribute to area children in need.

“Purchasing school supplies is an added expense for many local families struggling to make ends meet,” said Area Northwest Volunteer Engagement Coordinator for United Way of Central Indiana Amy Hammerle. “Backpack United – Boone County helps remove a barrier to learning for many children living in poverty in Boone County.”

Over 30 community partners will collect supplies that will be distributed to Boone County students at the Backpack United Festival on Saturday, July 28 at the Lebanon Boys and Girls Club from 9-11 a.m.

Cash donations are also accepted. Checks should be made payable to United Way of Central Indiana with Backpack United – Boone County written in the memo line and mailed to United Way of Central Indiana – 221 N. Lebanon St. Lebanon, IN  46052. All donations of school supplies and funds will be used in Boone County for Boone County students.
